Racine Unified School District Measures of Academic Progress Value-Added Demonstration Project

The focus of this project is to develop a value-added system for the Racine Unified School District (RUSD) using data from the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), which is an online adaptive assessment developed by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) and administered to RUSD students in Grades 2-9 in reading and mathematics.

Since the MAP is administered three times each year to RUSD students, there are multiple periods of growth that could be measured in a value-added format, although for this demonstration project the primary periods of growth to be examined are Fall-Spring (September-May), Fall-Winter (September-February), and Winter-Spring (February-May). Additionally, since the RUSD also has MAP data for students in Grades K-1, VARC and the RUSD will jointly explore the feasibility of creating value-added growth reports for these grades as part of this and/or future projects.
